“Rio Rancho Roper” (pastel, 16 x 20 in.) by Lin Boucher

A dynamic mix of pastel landscapes, still lifes, and figures in The Pastel Society of New Mexico’s “Enchanted Colors” exhibition celebrates the rich possibilities of pastel. This year’s show drew 255 entries, up from 190 last year, making it tough for jurors Bruce A. Gomez, William Schneider, and Marie Tippets to narrow their selections to the 66 paintings that hang in the show, hosted for the fifth time at the Millicent Rogers Museum in Taos.

“Consequences” (pastel, 18 x 20 in.) by Paul Murray

The exhibition showcases work from artists across the United States, with a strong representation from New Mexico and neighboring states. To expand the reach of this celebration of pastel, the Society will also host a Virtual Interactive Online Exhibition, featuring 56 additional pieces from artists who opted for digital display only. Each will be shown in its relative size, giving online visitors a sense of scale and presence.
